"Dollbody" by Sebastian Bieniek, 2017-2018
Series of 5 photographs by Sebastian Bieniek, made in 2017-2018 in Berlin. The series show a doll-combined portrait of several female models. It is a reference to lost childhood and naivety on the one hand and to an often broken ideal on the other. At the same time, the series is reminiscent of Japanese Kintsugi (金継ぎ) ceramics in which it is precisely the breaks that create the space for beauty.
